New Glory Devotional: REDEEMING THE TIME 2 – Sunday, October 28, 2012

By Pastor Ayo Agbelusi

Memorise: “For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Read: 2 Corinthians 6:1-2

It’s not enough to continuously remember or recount your wasted years. The best action at a time like this is to sit with the Holy Spirit and request what should be done to regain all lost grounds. Sitting helplessly or crying endlessly for mercy is not the solution. The time left of your destiny should be for immediate action to get back all that the enemy has stolen from you through careless living, peer pressure and the deceitfulness of the devil. You can’t afford to wait any longer. You must wake up from your slumber.

You need to understand that the redemption of your soul qualifies you for the restoration of your lost grounds. You are not redeemed to be reduced. You are redeemed to get better and most especially to fit perfectly into God’s agenda for your destiny. If you have been deceived before, this is your time to hit back at the devil and recover all that he stole from you. Have you lost your pride as a lady or man? This is your set time to connect to God for immediate recovery. If you have gone so deep into erroneous teachings, the truth of His word is available and once you have found it, proclaim your freedom and run to God for eternal cover. Have you been used as an instrument in the hand of the devil? Maybe you were once lost in occultism, immoral living, assassination, armed robbery and what have you. Listen to me, the entrance of the word of God brings about your deliverance and liberation from the hold of darkness. It’s your time to proclaim the light of the word that you have received and put the devil to open shame. Be delivered from every bondage to satan and his works. Start claiming your sonship rights.

Beloved, you need a correct understanding of this present time. This is your set time. This is the only available moment for you to act. Act in faith and reclaim your lost glories. Go to your maker and request for all that you need so that you are not cheated in life. I’d like to tell you that it’s not too late for you. You can still earn that degree. It’s very possible for you to make that mark. You can still be married. True love can still be restored to that marriage. You can still be used of God. You are not a discarded vessel. Stop calling yourself names. See from the eyes of the spirit the provisions of God for you through salvation. Your destiny will never be wasted in Jesus name.

Consider Paul the Apostle. A chief among all sinners. He found grace but didn’t stop at that. He appropriated that available grace. “And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. ” (Acts 9:6). Are you wasting the grace of God upon your life? What are you doing with the little time you have left here on earth? Wasting time or investing the time. You must not allow the enemies of your soul to prevail again.

“For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
Everyday is God’s day. The day you are set is your day. Are you sure you are ready to take back your glory? Do you truly desire full restoration of your lost time and years? Do you wish to recover all that the enemy has stolen from you? Don’t keep quiet. Get back on your knees and go to God in prayer. Ask of Him and He will give you the nations for your inheritance.

“Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.” (Psalm 2:8). Go and occupy that vacant seat in your local assembly. Get your hands into His assignment and be part of Jesus success team. Be reconciled to God. Don’t delay any further. Go for God and get the gold. Be careful of the life you live henceforth. The devil isn’t resting on his oars. He’s on duty 24/7. May he not gain access into your liberty again in Jesus mighty name. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (1 Peter 5:8). You will never regret any time spent on earth again.

PRAYER:

Father Lord, I’m set to recover my lost years. Restore me Lord into the center of your will.

New Glory Devotional: FOR SUCH A TIME LIKE THIS – Sunday, October 14, 2012

By Pastor Ayo Agbelusi

Memorise: “For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

Read: Esther 4:14-16

Another person whose fame rose unstoppably in the Bible was Joseph. God’s provision for him was unique and timely. Thank God Joseph wasted no time in realising that his affluence and position was directly linked to the deliverance of his brethren and the nation of Israel. It’s important you find out why God blessed you. God is not a waster of resources. He gives seed to the sower and mere bread to consumers. If you are a sower, you will be a blessing but consumers have nothing to offer. God will only qualify you for higher heights if there’s a provision in your heart to bless and not to oppress. Many of the so-called rich in our society today are mere oppressors and are never channels of blessing to their people. I pray that God will not regret blessing you in Jesus mighty name.

The position of parents in the successful development of a child can never be over emphasised. Thank God for Mordecai. He showed up as a unique uncle to bring Esther to remembrance of the reason why God positioned her in the palace. It was for such a time when the people of God would require a saviour and urgent deliverer. Do you realise that God is not just promoting and blessing you on that job for nothing? It’s impossible for you to witness untold increase in that business without a divine mandate. Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking that the gifts and talents you have are for personal use and profit. No brother, all these blessings are there for a time when they will be needed in His kingdom.

…and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

You need someone to talk to you. Our politicians and leaders need to be corrected on what to do with their titles and offices. As a minister in God’s vineyard, you need to talk to yourself. What is the value you have added since you gained that position and authority? Who has benefited from the grace of God upon your life? Are you merely watching and waiting? Delay is dangerous. If you fail continually to appropriate the purpose of the blessings of God upon your life, you will loose them to other profitable servants whom the Lord has prepared.

You need to decide quickly like Esther did.

“Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.” (Esther 4:16).

You must be ready to sacrifice what you have and all you’ve earned. This is the right time to support the work of the Lord. Now is the time to make yourself available for the projects of God towards the salvation of men. Your affluence should translate to kingdom influence. You are created and sent to that region for such a time like this. God is expecting you to defend the cause of the poor, the widows and orphans. What are you still waiting for?

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” (Romans 8:19).

You can start now! You have waited too long. You have wasted this grace enough. Why should God be sad or have regrets over his blessing upon your life. Look inward and respond to your Maker concerning the purpose why He created you. May you not fail God and humanity in Jesus mighty name.

ACTION POINT:

Examine your life. What is the reason why God has created me with so many talents and blessings? It’s definitely for such a time as this.

New Glory Devotional: REDEEMING THE TIME – Friday, October 12, 2012

By Pastor Ayo Agbelusi

Memorise: “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16).

Read: Ephesians 5:15-16

The greatest asset of man on the earth is time. Your time spent is equal to your life spent. In other words, time is life as the saying goes. Each second, minute and hour that has passed draws you closer to the result of your assignment. If you cannot tie up your assignment properly within the specified time, you would end up a waste in place of fruitfulness.

Therefore, it is expedient that you begin to maximise every moment of your life for profit and progress in destiny.

The Psalmist says: “teach us to number our days…” Psalm. 90:12. Every wise hearted believer will take this scripture very seriously. Anything that engages your time is directly or indirectly engaging your life. It’s either your time is positively utilised towards the actualisation of your desired goal or wasted on frivolous and unprofitable adventure. Look back and see, this year is far spent and another “happy new year” is already fast approaching. What have you done with your time this year? Every moment of our life is golden. There’s a blessing and opportunity attached to every time you spend on earth.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Until you learn to avoid time wasters on your assignment, work, business and ministry, you will never attain greatness on the earth. Your greatest time waster is procrastination. This is your chief enemy. It’s the enemy within and a younger brother to laziness. There are some friends you keep that have nothing to add but to subtract. These friends abound in your classroom, study arena, workplace, ministry and marriage. They affect you negatively and will never allow you to fulfil God’s mandate per time.

You do not need motivation from anybody my brother and sister. This message is coming so that you will encourage yourself and start looking inwardly at what you should have appropriated with a wise use of your time. It’s never late. You can still be what God wants you to be and achieve what you were meant to achieve in these few remaining months of the year. Instead of wasting away due to reckless use of your time, start redeeming it. To Redeem is to buy back, to recover lost time. What have you lost to careless use of your time? You can gain it back! You can still pass that examination and move on with your education! Regardless of your age, you can still be a soul winner, a life helper and a destiny changer.

Maybe you have wasted the best of your youthful time in immorality due to peer pressure and it appears there’s no future for you maritally, listen to me, you can recover those wasted years through grace. This message is to bring you back to the initial counsel of God for your destiny. You must desire a change in your attitude to time. There’s provision for you in the redemption. All you need right away is to redeem the time remaining and ensure you spend them judiciously towards achieving your desired goal in life.

What steps are you taking towards the time you have wasted in Satan’s kingdom? Wisdom demands that you use the remaining years of your life to witness to souls, support evangelism and missions, give to the poor and be a blessing to your immediate generation. Take a good position at a time like this to recover your lost ground. The Lord will help and be gracious unto you. Shalom!

PRAYER:

Father Lord, I receive sufficient grace to recover all the time I have lost to frivolous living.

Open Heavens Devotional: STRAY TEMPTATION – Saturday, July 14, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure. 1 Timothy 5:22

Read: 2 Samuel 11:1-5

It will shock you to know that it is easier to manage lack and hardship than to manage abundance and pleasure. If you live in a single room in a “face-me-I-face-you” building (building with multiple tenants of low-income class), it is easier for you to wake up and pray even at night than when you live in an expensively furnished bedroom with water bed in a mansion overseeing the sea. When you want to get up to pray in such a house, the comfort of the bed will motivate you to sleep some more. Before you know it, it will be dawn. Let us take the case of David as an example (2 Samuel 11:1; 12:14.) While David was being chased from cave to cave, he had no time to think of committing adultery, but after being crowned king and baptized into comfort, when he should have been at war, he was resting and so he saw what he should not have seen and got into trouble.

It is important to be where God wants you to be always. During evangelism, He expects you to be in the field witnessing to souls. During rehearsal time or Sunday school preparatory class, God expects you there if you are a teacher. He expects you in service during the time for service. Any time you are not where God expects you to be, you open yourself to see or encounter what you should not, and you may find yourself in trouble. Do you know what the devil could have planned for one of David’s servants who stayed in the palace to be the one to see the naked Beersheba? But because David was in the wrong place, he got trapped by this temptation. Many people, like David, have entered into trouble not planned for them and became victims of stray temptations. One way to avoid this is by being where God wants you to be at every point in time. But even when confronted with such temptations, know that God’s grace is sufficient to overcome all temptations. Ask God to guide your steps aright from today.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, order my steps according to Your will and Word. Let me be where You want me to be at every point in time.

Open Heavens Devotional: TIME & OPPORTUNITIES – Saturday, June 16, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Psalms 32:6

Read: Numbers 14: 35-45

Time is an asset given by God to man. However, its illusionary static nature when considered over a short span deceives men. Time is slowly ticking away, quickly converting every second in the present into a thing of the past. How you relate with time will determine whether you will succeed or not. In Numbers 13 and 14, God asked the children of Israel to go and possess the Promised Land, a great opportunity. So they sent 12 spies to check it out and report back to them. Ten of them gave an evil report by stating all they saw physically and concluding that it would be impossible for them to take the land. On the other hand, Caleb and Joshua gave a good report by saying that the problems in the land were no match for the God of Israel. When they revolted against God and His servant Moses, God stepped in and plagued the 10 spies who brought the evil report and they died before the Lord. By the time the congregation realised their error they said they had sinned and were now prepared to go to the Promised Land as earlier instructed by God, but God said it was already too late. Their fate had been sealed! All who left Egypt from age 20 and above were to die in the wilderness without entering the Promise Land. Only the teenagers and children would make it. That is a classical case of missed opportunity in time.

No level of tears could turn the hands of the clock backwards. One lesson here is that the time you perform any assignment for God is very crucial to Him. If God asks you to do something, He also has the time that is right for you to do it. If you choose to do it at a time other than His time, it may not have the same desired impact or the missed opportunities might become irrecoverable or recovering such opportunities might come at a high cost. Whatever God instructs you to do, be in a hurry to do it except He instruct you otherwise. Is the Spirit urging you to pray? Pray now! Please suspend all you are doing and obey, if not, by the time you think you have the time to pray, it might be too late. Some people are sowing their seeds too late. Some prayers are done too late. Some acts of obedience are coming rather too late. Many people are surrendering too late. Don’t be a victim of opportunities lost in time! If you follow divine timing, you will never do anything too late.

KEY POINT:

The devil and the spirit of death, use the illusion of the constancy of time in deceiving those who defer their salvation to a later date thinking they have a lot of time.

Open Heavens Devotional: JESUS WORKED WITH TIME – Thursday, May 31, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4

Read: John 9:1-7

Time has a way of conspiring against us. It gives us the illusion that everything is standing still and nothing is lost. It appears to tell us never to worry. Anyone who falls for this illusion would regret at the end of the day, having failed to accomplish what he or she was supposed to. In John 9:4, Jesus says:

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

If only you can follow the principles of Jesus, there is no way you will not succeed both on earth and in Heaven. A wise person will strive to do the most important things in life at youth because at old age, there wouldn’t be much strength and vigour to do them. According to our Lord Jesus Christ, it is wise to do God’s work while a youth. That is, there is need to find out God’s purpose for your life and key into it very early in life so that you can positively affect God’s Kingdom through it.

Our Lord Jesus Christ started His ministry at the age of 30 (Luke 3:23), and within about three and a half years, He had accomplished His purpose on earth. He had completed His Father’s assignment. He had touched so many lives. He had raised so many disciples and had mentored the apostles to take over from Him. Within that period, He had taught these disciples all they needed to know at that level, leaving out some tougher doctrines for the Holy Spirit to teach after His departure. If you observe the Lord, you will discover that He was in a hurry to win souls. He was in a hurry to heal the sick. Ever ready, He was in a hurry to bless people and was only waiting for people to open their mouths and ask. There were several cases where because of His haste to finish His assignment, He forced Himself into people’s situations and changed their lives even without any invitation. Peter benefited from this. Jesus understood time and worked with it. If you are the Jesus in your area, church or community, how are you doing the work of the Lord today?

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, as You worked with time to fulfil Your purpose on earth, grant me the Grace to achieve Your purpose for my life within the time I have left.

Open Heavens Devotional: WHEN IT IS TIME – Monday, April 2, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: While it is said, Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Hebrew 3:15

Read: 2 Corinthians 6:1-2.

In life God has a time for everything. Even when it appears He is not following your timetable, be rest assured that His timetable for your life is far better than yours. When the day comes for you to fulfill your destiny, fire will fall. When your day of favour has fully come, it will not pass you by. Even when Moses seemed to have forgotten his call, at the time appointed for him to key into his destiny, the bush burned. For you the fire will fall. God’s timing is always perfect.

For he saith, l have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have l succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2.

When God says it is now time as He has said concerning your salvation (if you are not yet born again), delay is dangerous. A delay of 24 hours or even an hour can be costly. When God says it is time, it means there is no more space for procrastination. No more playing around when it is time. God expects you to do exactly what He has instructed you to. Is God urging you to pray? Do so. Don’t delay. God does not wait for anyone. Just imagine what would have happened if Peter had gone to the rest room when the fire of the Spirit fell on those at the upper room; he could have been left out! If anything, although his change did not eventually come through the pool, yet, the man at the pool of Bethesda waited by the pool until his change came through Jesus. Today, many people miss God’s intervention in their lives for failing to know their time. Even in church, instead of listening attentively to the Word, some engage in useless discussions. Ideally, you are not supposed to be talking to someone when the Word of God is being preached. Where then is your reverence for God? Even ministers of God are guilty of this. If during sermon you have an urgent message to pass through to someone, write it on a piece of paper and send it through the ushers to the fellow. Your rapt attention is needed to prevent you from missing God

KEY POINT:

When it is your time, every second counts. Some have missed the word sent to meet their need due to seconds of distraction. Be wise!

Open Heavens Devotional: TIME AND SPEED – Thursday 22 September 2011

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:” (Dan. 2:21).

READ: Daniel 2:20-21

Another truth you need to tell others including your family and church members is that God is the controller of times and seasons. “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:” (Dan. 2:21). Many people think what befalls them is purely by chance. Nothing happens by chance! Revelation 1:8 speaks of the Alpha and Omega who is fully in control of what has happened in the past and what will happen tomorrow. Your future is not in the hands of anyone, no matter how hard the fellow tries. Anyone who says you shall not be promoted in your place of work, or who says you shall not graduate from your school, must be told that your future is not in the hands of man but in the hands of the Most High God. When men forgot Joseph for years, in God’s time, He gave him a turn-around within 24 hours. Similarly, at the feast in Cana of Galilee, the Lord, who awaited His right time, soon delivered to them their much needed miracle-wine. One moment, He was saying, ‘My time has not come’, but the next moment, He had moved swiftly into action. Since the Lord is in control of time, He can change ‘Not yet!’ to ‘Right now!’. In your situation, the Lord will change ‘Not yet!’ into ‘Right now!’ this season.

Christ’s ability to change ‘Not yet!’ to ‘Right now!’ speaks of His capacity to turn what is not urgent into something urgent, and what is not important into something important. God can give speed to your breakthrough. When Samuel sent for David in the house of Jesse, he refused to sit down until David was brought from the sheep-fold at the back of the desert. The Lord was urgent upon David’s matter. Suddenly, an insignificant youngster became very important. This season, the Lord will give speed to your turn-around. By His intervention in your situation this period, those who have been saying you are not yet ripe for promotion will suddenly appoint you into your next level. The Lord will give you speed. The lord will manipulate time and chance in your favour today!

PRAYER POINT:

Father, all my good desires that are on Your waiting list, move them to Your urgent list today

Open Heavens Devotional: TIME OF FREEDOM – Monday 28 March 2011

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink Of that cup.” (1 Cor. 11:28).

READ: Exodus 12:21-23

The Holy Communion is an uncommon meal that every believer in Christ should take periodically. The inherent blessings channeled to communicants are immense, and the effects can last a lifetime. When God was instructing the Israelites concerning the Passover, He asked them to apply the blood of the Lamb on the lintel and the two side posts of their front doors. Whenever God sees the blood of His Son Jesus Christ on the door post of your heart, He will instruct the destroyer to pass over you. This means that the blood of Jesus keeps the destroyer at bay. It also keeps destruction away. It brings about a separation. As you partake of the Holy Communion, apply the blood on your door, yourself, your family, and everything you have. The destroyer and destruction will stay far away from you.

“And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded” (Gen 47:11). When Joseph’s family arrived in Egypt, Joseph, with the permission of Pharaoh, gave them the best of the land of Egypt—Goshen. They had a good time until his death. In that land, their increase moved from the level of addition to that of multiplication. Exodus 1:9 says that many years later, because they were fast evolving as a nation of a strong and mighty men, a new Pharaoh who was not acquainted with the history of Joseph in Egypt declare war on the Israelites. Suddenly, the Pharaoh enacted decree to kill their baby boys at birth and to turn them into slaves. Their prosperity and rapid growth got them into trouble. Has God’s blessing on your life made you a target of enemy attacks, manipulation and oppression? Fear not! The Holy Communion is a way out! One night, the poverty-stricken slaves of Egypt took the Passover meal and everything changed. As you take the next communion, everything in your life will change for good in Jesus name. That single meal delivered freedom, prosperity, healing and blessings to them on the same night. A slavery of four hundred and thirty years was terminated. It does not matter how long your envious enemies have hated, oppressed or tormented you. As you partake of this meal, release your faith and claim your deliverance and you shall be totally free. You shall see the marks of the oppressor no more. It is your time of freedom.

ACTION POINT:
It takes a bad king to afflict someone for life.
It takes uncommon meal to reverse the trend permanently.
If you have a bad king, concentrate on your uncommon meal!
