Open Heavens Devotional: BENEFITS OF HIS PRESENCE – Thursday, February 2, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Read: Matthew 11:28-30

Moses was ready to reject any promotion, progress or prosperity that was not backed up by God’s presence. Do everything you need to do and pay every price you need to pay for God to be with and remain with you. There are a whole lot of benefits from His presence.

And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, if thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. Exodus 33:14-15

Also, in Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus promises rest to those who come to Him. This rest is an all-encompassing rest. Are you burdened with a particular care? Is it turning your hairs grey before the time? What you need is the divine presence, for there is rest for you in God’s presence. If God is with you, it will show in the level of rest you enjoy. You cannot have Him with you and you remain troubled. Do you need true rest in every area of your life and ministry? Ask for God’s presence as never before.

Another benefit of God’s presence is that it is a mark of God’s favour (Exodus 33:16). Is God with you? Oh how favoured you are! In addition, God’s presence with you is a mark of Heaven’s recognition. In Exodus 33:17, God told Moses: “I know you by name”. Every Born-again Christian ought to enjoy this level of intimacy with God, for Paul writing to the church at Galatia said:

But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Galatians 4:9

Does God address you by name? Another benefit is that, it is those that carry God’s presence that God will show His glory. If God is with you, be prepared to see what eyes have not seen. Moses saw the glory of God and you too can. Ask for His ever-abiding, tangible presence from today.

PRAYER POINT:

In every area I am troubled or disturbed, Father, give me rest today through Your presence.

Open Heavens Devotional: ANOINTING SECURES THE ANOINTED – Wednesday, February 1, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Hebrews 12:14

Read: Hebrews 1:8-9

One characteristic of God that He can never compromise is holiness. His holiness is so sure that he swears by it often, as it is in Amos 4:2 & Psalms 89:35.

Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

God is not just holy, He also wants us to be partakers of His Holiness (Hebrews 12:10b). But why is God so particular about us living a holy life? It is because He wants us to continually have fellowship with Him right here on earth and for that fellowship to continue when we see Him at the end. Our God is a holy God and He says in Hebrews 12:14, without holiness no one will see God. Before the advent of sin, man had no problems. Today, our Father desires that we live a life devoid of problems, hence the need for us to be holy. Living a life of holinesses also helps to establish our heart in Him thereby increasing the boldness of our faith.

To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father……….. 1 Thessalonians 3:13

If you are living a holy life, you will be bold in your faith and you will be able to move mountains before you, irrespective of size. When sin is in your life, you will lack the courage to pray for the sick to be healed.

From today’s Bible reading we derive the revelation that living a holy life commands an outstanding anointing. According to Isaiah 10:27, the anointing destroys yokes. You cannot bind an anointed man, but if you succeed in doing so, the anointing will destroy the yokes. This was the case with Samson (Judges 15:9-16). The anointing provides the anointed security and protection from known and unknown enemies. God warns: “Touch not mine anointed” (Psalm 105:15). This is why David could enjoy God’s provision right before the peering eyes of his enemies (Psalm 23:5). But if the anointed swims in sin, the anointing on the fellow may not deliver protection. If you are anointed, the enemy cannot prevent you from enjoying God’s blessings except you let him. From today, ask God for grace to live a holy life all the days of your life.

PRAYER POINTS:

Pray that as you enter this month, you will grow in the knowledge of God and your blessings shall be double.

RCCG Covenant Prayer Points for February 2012

Prayer Points for Feb Fasting Period

‘”Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.” 2 Kings 7:1

The sounds of abundance of rain were echoed at the very beginning when this year was just about an hour old. These words of gladness, spoken and sent to us from our Father in Heaven through his anointed, daddy E.A. Adeboye, have created a kind of hope for “NEW THINGS” that this very year 2012 is known for. We believe that like the days of Elisha, the prophecies for this year will experience a very rapid fulfillment in Jesus Name.

THE PRAYER POINTS

Prayers of THANKSGIVING will be our focus in the first week this February.

Each day of Second, third and last week would be dedicated to special prayers for Daddy E.A. Adeboye as Daddy clocks 70 in March.

Also in the last three weeks, we shall pray this year’s prophecies into fulfillment. Each week contains the one for the week.

As we pray this month, we strongly believe that our God will make us “…to hear joy and gladness…”Psalms 51:8. He would rebuke the wind and there will be”… a great calm”Mark4:39

Open Heavens Devotional: BEYOND COMMAND – Tuesday, January 31, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalms 100:4

READ: Luke 9:28-36

Going by the experience of Jesus on the mount of Transfiguration, prayer is a key to encountering God’s glory, just as God can reach out to man, so also can man reach the invisible God in the place of fervent prayer, to the point of physical clothes changing form. Have you used this tool to access your desired change? To get the kind of result recorded in Luke 9:29, the Lord Jesus Christ first separated Himself from private and public ministry. His ministry entailed privately counselling a number of people and mentoring his disciples while ministering to lots more publicly, but He set all these aside temporarily in order to access a higher level of God’s presence. If you want God’s glory to transform you, you must be prepared to pay the price the Lord paid. A worker or minister, who cannot set aside all spiritual assignments in order to access God’s glory through fervent prayers, will soon meet with failure on these same assignments. It is wisdom to access His glory before embarking on or continuing a given task. Reaching for more of His glory amounts to telling God you cannot do it on your own, and showing Him how much you need Him. The one who does not care to reach for more of His glory is professing self-sufficiency.

Another lesson from today’s Bible reading is that there is no short cut into His glory. Some people think they can decree their way into His presence. Not so fast! Even our Lord Jesus Christ did not experience the transfiguration out of a simple command but out of intense prayer. There are things simple commands cannot fetch you. If you like give your orders on such issues, you will be ignored. A simple decree cannot usher you into God’s glorious presence but intense prayers or quality worship can. In any case, are you satisfied with the foretaste of His presence? Step up on your prayer life today, have quality time to praise Him, worship the Lord and thank Him. You can just stay in His presence not asking, but just worshipping Him. This season you will encounter His glory that will transform your life in Jesus name!

KEY POINT:

There are many things you can command but the glory of His presence is not one of them. People create the gods they serve but our God created us to serve Him.

Open Heavens Devotional: SECURITY IN EVANGELISM – Monday, January 30, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30

Read: Revelation 3:7-13

Taking a quick look at the history of Philadelphia gives us an insight into the letter of the Lord to the church there. The word Philadelphia is from the Greek word ‘Philadelphos’ meaning brotherly love. This city was established as a missionary field of Greek culture to the neighbouring cities. One advantage that constantly worked against many of its inhabitants was its being sited in the midst of a plain of grape fruits. This gave them access to cheap wine and left many drunk in the morning. Philadelphia and other surrounding cities were subject to constant earthquakes thereby keeping residents ever on alert. The expense of repairs was constant. These conditions perhaps explain the state of members of this church (Revelations 3:8). The church at Philadelphia was strong, vibrant and was missionary minded. When Mohammed and his followers invaded Asia Minor, an event that saw many churches falling away, the church in Philadelphia stayed together and remained strong. They refused to yield to the jihadists and insisted on remaining Christians. To this day, the church in Philadelphia is still standing.

One thing worth of note here is that the Lord had no rebuke for this church. She had little strength yet she stood firm for the Lord. If this supposed feeble church could be without rebuke, your local assembly too can be without rebuke. From this we learn a vital lesson that a church that is built on love and is constantly winning souls for Christ will always overcome the temptations of the devil. Is your church a ‘going’ Church?

PRAYER POINT:

Father, let Your church worldwide be built on love, evangelism and obedience to You.

Open Heavens Devotional: WHERE IS THE OVERFLOW? – Sunday, January 29, 2012

By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; Psalms 133:2

Read: Acts 19:11-12

Recently, I went to America and visited a book shop to buy some tapes. An American came and introduced himself to me and shook me. Immediately after the handshake, he asked: “What happened?” Unknown to me the man was suffering from pains on his hands and one of his legs but he observed that the pain had suddenly disappeared from both the hands and leg. As I moved further from there, the man began to ask those with me: “Who is this man?” Thereafter, he returned and asked for another handshake. This season, the anointing of God on you will spread to others. It is worth nothing that anointing is not just for the benefit of the anointed. God expects the anointing to overflow to others. An African adage says: When the eyes are full of water, they would drop on the nose. Do you know that the anointing can so overflow through you that you will become a mighty vessel in God’s hands?

When David was anointed, the anointing on him flowed to a lamb that was already grabbed by a lion for meat and delivered it. God expects you to protect the flock of God with the anointing He has placed in you. If you say you are anointed yet the enemy comes in at will to do whatever he likes with members of your flock of family, it simply means, either you have lost your anointing or it is barely enough for you, hence there is no overflow. Show me a congregation who is under divine cover and I will show you a pastor with an overflowing anointing. In the same vein, if you are a father, and you are born again, God gives you an anointing that should overflow to your children and wards. If members of your family easily fall sick, lose things or come under different attacks from the enemy’s territory, it is an indication that the anointing is not flowing to members of that family. If that is the experience in your family, ask your husband or daddy: ‘Daddy, where is the overflow?’ This overflow should move from house fellowship leaders to members, from the Believers class teacher to the students, etc. Just as the anointing overflowed from Aaron’s head to his beard and down to his skirts, so should the anointing overflow from the spiritual head to subordinates (Psalms 133:2).

PRAYER POINT:

Father, let your anointing in me overflow to others in need of it.

Bible in one year: Numbers 7-10
