Dec 8, 2015 – It is no longer news that the Federal Executive Council, the highest executive decision making organ of the Federal Government of Nigeria has now been inaugurated.

That happened on Wednesday the 11th November, 2015 which is 28 days ago.

It is also no longer news that 3 (Three) Ministries or areas of critical public service of Power, Works and Housing have been merged into 1 (One) under the superintending authority of myself as substantive Minister and Mustapha Baba Shehuri (Honourable Minister of State)with 2 (Two) new Permanent Secretaries, Engr. Abubabar Magaji, redeployed from the Ministry of Interior to Works and Housing; and Mr. Louis Edozien from the private sector to assist us.

Since our inauguration we have spent the last few days, getting to know ourselves and our officers, assessing the status of works done in all Ministries, meeting with some of our parastatals and corporations; (which is still on-ongoing) and generally trying to understand where things stand, where the problems are, what can be solved, what cannot be solved, what must continue and what must be altered.

At this point I must express our gratitude to all the Directors, Assistant Directors and their entire staff, not only for the warm reception thus far, but also for their time and the information they have shared with us thus far.

While our work of assessment, and detailed planning and development of workable solutions is an ongoing one that will take some time, we have considered it expedient to make this briefing for the purpose of setting the agenda, owned clarifying emerging issues.

The Agenda
We are not unmindful of the huge expectations of the Nigerian public who voted for the All Progressive Congress message of CHANGE and elected President Muhammed Buhari to office.

This was stated at the Fireside Chat held by iDea Nigeria, a Lagos-based incubator and accelerator for techpreneurs in Nigeria on Friday October 23rd 2015.

Obi Ejimofo, Managing Director of real-estate marketplace Lamudi.com.ng, opined that the only way to build trust is through consistency. The challenge is to continue to innovate.  “At Lamudi we are constantly evaluating ourselves to improve the quality of our agents, our response time, customer feedback and so on. As a result we came up with Dial4Home, a hotline which enables people speak directly to an operator who will guide them through their property search and more recently the mortgage calculator which calculates the mortgage cost on each property for sale on the Lamudi platform.” Read more

On behalf of the Federal Government and people of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi on his emergence as the 51st Ooni of Ife and successor to the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
President Buhari rejoices with Prince Adeyeye on his nomination as Ooni by the kingmakers of Ife after a keenly contested but peaceful selection process, and confirmation yesterday by Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.

As he prepares to begin the rites of ascension to the revered throne of his great ancestors, President Buhari urges the Ooni-designate to commit himself to carrying all his subjects along to a new era of peace, stability and progress in Ife, Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.
The President calls on Prince Adeyeye to be prepared to put his new position as Ooni and principal custodian of the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Yorubas to good use in the service of his people and country.
President Buhari also urges the Ooni-designate to dedicate himself to building on, and surpassing the worthy legacies of his much-acclaimed predecessor, Oba Sijuwade, and working with government and other traditional rulers across the country to foster greater harmony, peaceful co-existence and faster socio-economic development of his people and all Nigerians.
