Aviation regulators from over 30 countries and regions met with officials of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) over the safety of Boeing 737 Max jets in Fort Worth in the state of Texas.
After the closed-door meeting, acting FAA Administrator Daniel Elwell told reporters that “we are going through an incredibly intensive and robust process to make the safety case to unground the Max,” adding that the FAA won’t let the plane fly “until we have made that safety case.”
According to industry analysts, the meeting in Fort Worth, about 420 km north of downtown Houston, is crucial to the FAA efforts to convince other regulators around the world to lift their bans on the airliner. International regulators have said they plan to conduct their own reviews of Boeing’s software changes and have stressed the need for additional pilot training.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says all shortlisted candidates for its recruitment will sit for Computer Based Testing (CBT) on Saturday, June 1, 2019 across the Country.
Mr Ndu Ughamadu, the corporation’s spokesman, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.
He said that the scheduled CBT for shortlisted candidates marked the third phase of the recruitment process.
Ughamadu noted that the CBT would be administered in about 50 centres across the country, saying that those who emerge successful in the test would subsequently be invited for oral interviews for final selection. Read more

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu said the approved private sector driven refinery in Mashi, Katsina State will be completed in 2021.
Kachikwu, who made this known to State House correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday, said the refinery would have the capacity to produce 150, 000 barrels per day when completed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kachikwu and the Nigerien Minister of Energy, Foumakaye Gado had on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nigeria and Niger Republic on the construction of the refinery at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“However, presently, we have mentally structured our minds for a three-year period to finish the work on the refinery but that depends on what we find during the technical studies.’’ Read more

As part of her initiative to rekindle the interest in reading, You Read Initiative, one of CSR programmes of GTBank launched in 2017 has given her support to a 40-year old Nigerian, Olubayode Treasures Olawunmi who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Read Aloud.
Since 2008, Deepak Sharma Bajagain has held the world record in book reading after he read a total of 17 books in 113 hours and 15 minutes.
Now, Olubayode is taking a shot at breaking the world record by reading over 15 Nigerian published books in 120 hours over a period of 6 days at the Herbert Macaulay Library, Yaba, Lagos. Read more
