Introducting WomeninPoliticsNG (WinP-NG)

WomeninPoliticsNG (WinP-NG) was established to engage, encourage, equip and empower women especially young women to get involved and participate in Politics.

WinP-NG strongly believes that the overall development of Nigeria is directly linked to the number of women in politics. The more women occupy political positions that enables them drive policy, the more they can contribute to improving education, healthcare, economic independence and improved livelihoods for all in general.

With the national average of women’s participation in Politics at 6.7% since 1999 when the Country became a democratic nation; WomeninPoliticsNG’s vision is to increase women’s participation in politics in Nigeria to 50% by 2050.

WinP-NG aims to do this by:

*Engaging: This will be done through mediums online and offline. Mediums will include radio, TV, conversation cafe’s e.t.c.

*Encourage: Use appropriate data to educate women why they must get involved. Recognise and showcase outstanding WinP. This will be done through interview chronicles and data derived from research.

*Equip: WinP-NG will organise workshops, boot camps and have mentoring sessions for young women seeking elective office.

*Empower: WinP-NG will empower women in it’s network with appropriate tools and resources they need to exercise their right to get involved as a voter and/or an aspirant.
