New Glory Devotional: THE ROOT MATTERS – Thursday, October 25, 2012

By Pastor Ayodeji Agbelusi

Memorise: “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11).

Read: 1 Corinthians 3:10-11

The life of a tree is very dependent on the depth of it root and also the availability of all required nourishment. Deep rooted trees are found to be stronger and with great adaptability to unpleasant weather and climatic conditions. If the root is correct, even when the tree is cut down, it shall sprout again and still take it rightful place within the jungle.

Starting is not enough, ending and finishing well is very important. Identifying with God through a heartfelt message or on a crusade ground is not the only expected nourishment that qualifies a soul for all round fulfilment on earth couple with a hope of eternal life with Christ at the close of the age. It’s expedient that you grow downward so that you can shoot upward without any impedance. The reason for the crash of many business, marriage and destiny is the inability of every party involved to take diligence in taking root downward for genuine nourishment required for growth and sustenance.

You cannot joke with your source neither can you relegate it. Your starting matters. Your root is key and the foundation of your destiny is forever relevant in your pursuit of excellence. God is our source of livelihood. The root of every man is the almighty. You can only get better on earth if you mind your root. If you will go far in life, you need to take diligence to tap from your source all the required ingredient for your growth provided such is a dependable root and foundation. A solid root will produce a strong a long standing tree. If your root and foundation is bad or faulty, the future is not certain and the beauty of that individual destiny will be greatly questionable.

“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11).

Beloved, you can’t get a better foundation outside God. If you expect a glorious future, you need to check where your destiny is laid. Are you standing on the Solid rock or mere sand? It will be very sad a story at the end if all your struggles on earth carry no eternal value. You can only have a good life if you have a viable source. If your root and foundation is corrupt, your destiny will be subject to several disturbances and you can never be assured of total, peace, joy and longevity.

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).

How did you start this journey you are running? Who is your source and how are you building your marital and financial destiny? Is your marriage built on genuine trust, love and godliness? You can only enjoy steady growth and peace if you have the God kind of foundation. Beloved! Your Root Matters. If you can’t boast of God as the captain of your ship, the success of your voyage is not in view. You need to sit yourself down first and reconsider your ways. You must get back to God as a matter of urgency to repair and rebuild your destiny from the source. God is your only solution if your foundation has been destroyed. Don’t apply any human solution to those issues in your marriage, be careful of your adviser and friends. If you didn’t recognise God at the start, you need to get Him involve now except you are expecting a total crash tomorrow. If you have lobbied your way into greatness, your root is corrupt. If your relationship was based on mere emotional and sinful dictates, your foundation is corrupt. If all you enjoy today are proceeds of occultism and gross darkness, your glorious ending is not in view. If you are planning that journey without considering God you are simply working towards eternal regret in the nearest future. Mind your root. Let God be your source and foundation. Build on this foundation godly virtues that produce excellence, success and sustenance. Don’t be adamant to wise and Godly counsel. Retrace your steps and get God in all you do. May you not suffer regrets and pains at last.

Father, deliver my journey in life from ungodly and faulty foundations. Repair me O Lord from the root and make me what You want me to be.
