New Glory Devotional: PRAYERLESS AND HELPLESS – Wednesday, October 17, 2012

By Pastor Ayo Agbelusi

Memorise: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16).

Read: Luke 18:1-8

The study of the Word of God makes a lot of difference in the life of a believer. You can’t go far with God if you don’t know His Word, which is the manual of life. If you will diligently heed His Word, you will not only make your way prosperous, you will surely have good success. Joshua 1: 8. The Word of the Lord is the key that opens the treasures of the earth and its fullness thereof. You can’t access God without engaging the right word for your desired breakthrough and turn around. People pray amiss because they lack His counsel and promise through the written and spoken Word. If your Word level is high, your God level will appreciate simultaneously.

One good point you must also realise is, you can’t go far in your prayer life if you lack the right word! You won’t be able to win the heart of your neighbour who is a mere mortal like you if you can’t put your words straight. You are helpless without the right words and channel of request. Prayer is basically your route to get God over the issues of your life and the right words are the keys to getting His attention. You will forever remain helpless if you can’t carry your burden to Him in prayers. Your lips are not made for lipstick and food only, they were created for praise, worship and prayer so that you don’t suffer in life.

“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” (Luke 18:1).

Until your joy is full, you’re not expected to be quiet. Silence connotes agreement and complacency. Until you ask, He’s not compelled to act. Asking compels receiving and until you search it out through prayers, you will never know how greatly He can deliver you from that ugly state of lack and poverty.

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.” (1 Chronicles 4:10).

You are helpless without prayers. You need the power of God to rebuild your altar which laziness, too much sleep, food and sin has broken down. You need to challenge yourself to get back to a better state with your God. Everyday and in every place, you need to pray. Concerning the state of your family, business, health and career, you need God except you are satisfied.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2).

Your husband cannot help you. Your uncle will fail you. Parents too, are limited. God is your only option for the desired miracle. Stop the spiritual laziness and engage the force of praise, worship and violent prayers to possess your possessions on the earth. You will surely share your testimonies if you faint not.

I rebuke every spiritual laziness robbing me of my blessings in the place of prayers.
