New Glory Devotional: BUILDING A GLORIOUS HOME – Saturday October 6, 2012

By Pastor Ayo Agbelusi

Memorise: “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:” (Proverbs 24:3).

Read: Proverbs 24:3-4

Your home is your primary place of abode and it forms the genesis of all your daily activities. It’s expected that you keep a home where love, joy and peace will reign. The presence of these three virtues will determine how much of God your home can accommodate. A peaceful home should be your desire. War and strife give no room for progress, development and success. It is therefore important that you seek wisdom to get the best of God for your home.

“The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.” (Proverbs 3:33).

Wisdom is a major prerequisite in building a home. If you will build to last, you need to consider the foundation you want to lay, carefully select the best material and seek counsel on how to make a success of the entire project. If you lack the required understanding, you are preparing for a crash in future except you seek God and ask Him to meet you at the point of your need.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).

Every single brother and sister reading this devotional must not joke with the warnings of the Lord. You can only get a glorious home if you are not laying your foundation on wickedness. Who your partner is will determine how good or bad your future home will be. If your relationship is not built on the Word and the fear of the Lord, you are building a future in wickedness.

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:1)

If you choose a sinner friend for your future husband or wife, you can only expect the results of sin in your future home. What are some of these results? War, quarrel, unfaithfulness, lack of trust, selfishness, pains, etc. But if you, through the help of God and a good understanding of the counsel of the Lord about marriage, choose a godly man or woman, you can be sure that a glorious home awaits you. Remember, if the foundation is destroyed, how will you cope as a righteous person? You can only sow glorious seeds to reap a glorious future. If you fail to acknowledge the position of God in establishing a godly marriage, you will have the rest of your life to regret your unholy choices and actions.

Don’t wait to experience the pains that come from building on a wrong foundation. Your marriage won’t head towards a divorce or break up if you can build with God today. Consider your children and their future. You won’t like to see them grow wayward. Majority of the calamities in most nations of the world are caused by children from broken homes or those that lack proper parental care and love.

What is the present state of your home? Glorious or filled with pains and regret? At any level, the Lord can still help you. Take these things to God in prayer. Don’t harm yourself and don’t allow the devil deceive you by driving you further into error. God is your only solution and help in time of need. He will help you grow your home gloriously. It is well with you

PRAYER:

Father, give me the wisdom and understanding required to build a glorious home. Don’t allow me to run in error in Jesus mighty name.
