New Glory Devotional: COLD ALREADY? – Wednesday, September 26, 2012

By Pastor Ayo Agbelusi

Memorise: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. ” (Matthew 24:12).

Read: Matthew 24:1-12

This season is no doubt the end of the age. Beloved, we have all the signs already. It’s no longer news that the coming of the Lord is at hand. Every wise heart will quickly remember the days of the flood and the evangelistic ministry of Noah. Each time I remember the warnings of Noah and the number of souls that were destroyed in the flood, I wonder why there’s no better response to God time like this.

“For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” (Hebrews 2:2-3).

Many started well in the faith but the situation of their faith is nothing to right home about at the moment. I suppose the things we see and hear when compared to the warnings of the Lord should prepare our hearts and minds on following the Lord and not heeding the deceits of the devil!

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. ” (Matthew 24:12). Your present spiritual temperature is pointer to where you are going at the sound of the trumpet.

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52).

Why are you growing cold? It’s simply because your love for the Lord has been substituted with love and cares of this sinful world. The cares and pleasures of life you once rejected are things you now celebrate to the detriment of your soul and spiritual growth. Aren’t you cold already? Where is the place for the word of God in your life? When last did you witness to a dying soul? Is your prayer time not replaced with movie time? How many of God’s instruction do have in your heart at the moment? Are you currently celebrated by the people of God or by your sinner friends? Who is leading this journey of your life?

If you will be true to yourself, sit down and examine your life if you are still in the faith or not. Your decision will affect your destination. If your decision is to follow these fleshly and sinful dictates, you can’t be numbered with the Lord at His second coming but if you through grace and faith in the world of the Lord renounce the devil and his deceitful appearances to draw you back, you will make it to heaven at last.

Oil your lamb for the Lord cometh like a thief in the night. If on this cold state you continue, the assurance of eternal life with God is shaky but if through faith in the word of the Lord you renounce the devil and his destructive suggestions, you will make it at last.

Prayer:

Father, restore me to righteous and holy living and make me ready for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
