In 1 Samuel 2 :30, God, who had earlier purposed to eternally choose priests from the family of Eli, rescinded His decision. May God not alter His good purposes and plans for your life in Jesus name. One lesson form this is that destiny is changeable. In mathematics, we call this variable constant, which refers to something that is fixed yet subject to change on introduction of a particular factor. An example here is death. Hebrews 9 :27 says everyone has an appointment with death, yet the date of that appointment can be changed – either moved forward or backward. Proverbs 10 :27 says, “The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened”. This means, if God says you will live for 70 years and you fear Him and are wise, you may live up to 80 years or more. In other words, one reason you should be wise is to prolong your life. Hence, Proverbs 9 :11 say, “For by me ( wisdom) thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased”. How wise are you? Do you have the wisdom of God? To what extent is God’s wisdom operating in and through you. In what way is it affecting every area of your life? Wisdom adds life, days and years to you. Wisdom keeps you from taking foolish decisions that can cut down your life- span. If there is any asset you must acquire this year, it is wisdom.
On the other hand, a man’s destiny can be changed backwards. Sin can shorten your life span. Sin is a robber of life. Many who were supposed to live up to 70 , 80 or more years, are dying today at 30 or 40 because they contacted certain diseases through a sinful act. One sexual encounter could be all it takes to infect a vibrant and healthy individual with a killer disease. If you are wise, you will keep away from sin in all its forms. Job 42 :16 says God added 140 years to the life-span of Job. He died at a good old age. He was righteous and wise, and so got more years. Who says you cannot get more from life? With wisdom, you can. By your present lifestyle, will God add to or subtract from your years?
PRAYER POINT Father, help our youths to apply their hearts to wisdom so that they can live long to affect their nation for good. Be wise in your lifestyle choices.
